Can I confess something? If you follow me on Instagram, you already know this about me. I am obsessed with podcasts….murder, true crime podcasts in particular! I have mentioned this before, but seriously, I probably have real issues. I now trust no one and my main goal in life has become to not raise a serial killer. Fingers crossed we accomplish that one. On a less serial killer note, I now feel like I am living in the 1950’s. “Be sure to drink your ovaltine”…..You win if you know what I am talking about.
Here is the thing though, some of these podcasts aren’t for little ears, so I find myself listening to them on headphones more often than not. So don’t be surprised if you show up to my house and I look like an air traffic controller walking around my kitchen.
So, I decided to make a list of my favorite podcasts. Please share yours too! I love finding new ones because I actually get housework done.
True Crime Podcasts:
1- Up And Vanished– the podcast that started it all for me. Payne Lindsay tells the fascinating true story of the disappearance of Tara Grinstead. It is intense and so interesting.
2- True Crime All The Time – Hosts Mike Ferguson and Mike Gibson walk you through the most horrifying true crime stories. They spare none of the details and delve into what the theories are behind what makes these killers tick. Plus, Mike and Gibby are kind of hilarious.
3- Generation Why – Two friends, Aaron & Justin, discuss theories and share their opinions on unsolved murders, controversies, mysteries, conspiracies, & true crime. They have some very realistic opinions and I find myself agreeing with them often.
4- CASEFILE – a podcast hosted by an Australian man that calls himself Anonymous. He tells the cases in story form and hearing the stories in a thick Australian accent makes it that much scarier. And on a side note, Australia has some SCARY true crime stories!
5- Serial – this was one of the first true crime podcasts. Hosted by Sarah Koenig, from This American Life. The first season tells the story of the murder of Hae Min Lee, a high school student. Her ex boyfriend, Adnan Syed was convicted and now, Sarah researches the possibilities of a wrongful conviction.
Self Help and Inspirational Podcasts
1- The LifeBeats Project – hosted by Briana Johnson, she interviews inspiring people who have faced devastating circumstances but find extraordinary strength within. She interviewed me two years ago and honestly, she was a pleasure to work with! So happy for her and all the success of her podcast. Here is the link to the episode of my interview!
2- Extraordinary Moms Podcast – the title explains it all. Jessica Dahlquist interviews inspiring moms from around the world. She also interviewed me twice. Once while Hayes was in treatment and once more after losing him. I am continually inspired by her interviews and hearing all about so many amazing people. Here is the link to my interviews.
3- Better Than Happy – this podcast is somewhat new to me. It is hosted by Jody Moore, an incredibly insightful and knowledgeable woman that knows how to inspire and stir up understanding in ourselves. I have highly enjoyed her podcast and already feel like it is changing me.
So that is a list of my 8 favorite podcasts and what I am currently listening to. Share what you love! And if you are interested, hop over to our YouTube channel to see a day in the life of me and how I incorporate these very podcasts in my day!
